Two reasons why Arsenal might win the league

Ironically, one of the reasons Arsenal might win the league is due to the one thing Arsene Wenger was always accused of and that is a lack of signings, something that was always not a problem with the rest of the clubs. This season the tables have turned. Emery and co. have made a raft of signings such as Torreira, Leno, Guendouzi, and Sokratis all of whom have gone on to make a positive impact so far.

In contrast, squads that normally compete for the premier league including Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Liverpool, and Chelsea have gone, by and large, with the same squad that they had with a signing or two that have not really had any impact save for one or two. Arsenal’s signings seems to have re-invigorated the squad and brought back a feel good factor to the club.

However, the main reason that we might win the league is lack of fatigue both mental and physical. After going through a gruelling 2017/18 season, key players from the aforementioned clubs went to represent their countries on the International stage in the World Cup. From the top of my head I can recall Giroud, Willian, and Hazard from Chelsea; Harry Kane, Delle Alli and Vertonghen from Tottenham; De Bruyne, Sterling, Aguero and Jesus from Manchester City; Salah, Firminho, and Sane from Liverpool. Even Manchester United were not spared considering Fellaini and Lukaku played a crucial part in Belgium’s run to the semi final.

Could Salah be suffering from fatigue?

Arsenal, on the other hand, need not worry about fatigue with their squad raring to go. Ozil and Iwobi had early exits with Germany and Nigeria respectively. Xhaka and Torreira were the only other two players in the World Cup with major roles with Danny Welbeck having a minor role with England.

If Emery can manage the players at his disposal, they might just last the distance and deliver the elusive premier league title last lifted during the invincibles. The January transfer window might not bring any respite for the teams challenging for the premier league title who may try to bring in fresh legs. Elite players such as Neymar, Cavani and others, who normally can make a difference might also suffer from the same problem of fatigue. Most clubs also do not like to do business in the middle of the season so getting these players to join is another matter altogether.

Nketiah and Smith Rowe need to stand up and be counted

This is the time for Arsenal to take advantage by using their whole squad including their talented youngsters such as Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe.
